Cannonball StealthStarter SSK-R Kick Drive Rigid Frame
The Cannonball StealthStarter system converts your classic kickstart-only Harley-Davidson to electric start. After installation you just push the button or turn the key to fire up your classic Big Twin.
The Cannonball SSK electric start system bolts between kicker cover and transmission case. The stock kick starter can be retained. Due to the system’s low profile, only ¾” (19 mm) wide construction the overall appearance of your motorcycle will remain virtually unchanged. Primary drive, primary housing and oil tank will stay untouched.
Installation is fairly easy and straightforward. The kit includes everything needed for the conversion except for the extended throwout bearing, battery, wires and starter button/switch.
If the bike is still equipped with an early stock 6 V electrical system, you will have to convert this to 12 V. Depending on the configuration some other options are available separately.
Since the kicker cover moves 19 mm to the right the following modifications may be necessary:
A stock 2-1 exhaust system will have to be routed slightly outward to compensate for the offset of the kicker cover. , A longer clutch release lever will be necessary on rod actuated configurations like Moustraps or Footclutch. A longer lever can be ordered seperately if needed., A extended throwout bearing must be ordered seperately for your type of clutch pushrod since the stock pushrod will be 19 mm too short.,
A longer brake crossover shaft will be necessary on all bikes using the original mechanical rear brake in conjunction with the original 2-1 or similar exhaust. A longer crossover shaft can be ordered separately if needed. ,
Original rear fenders need to be slightly dented for starter motor clearance. Alternatively, an aluminum “Dent” can be ordered separately. In this case the fender needs to be cut out to allow the “dent” to be mounted with the original lower fender mount bolt and the two oil tank/battery tray bolts.

By grounding the green wire, the self-cancelling function can be disabled, requiring the turn signals to be switched off manually by pressing the handlebar button again.

Admittedly the investment for a set of stroker flywheels is pretty hefty and you wouldn't crown this wonderful device with a set of inferior pistons, would you? The Wrecking Crew, for one, didn't want to gamble and had these special pistons made by the renowend German manufacturer Graf. Those guys supply the vintage and classic racing scene since decades and you can simply trust their material. And yes, they are more expensive than your average 45 piston but a seized or broken piston at full throttle is by far more costly, guaranteed.
These special Graf pistons are made for small twin Flatheads with 4.5” stroker flywheels. They are shorter than stock pistons so the engine case baffle plates do not need to be removed. Complete with piston rings, pins and locks.

These electronic regulators with their integrated needle bearing replace the entire end bell bearing support plate/brush cover. The connecting wires are routed on the outside and have the correct length for 58 and 65A type generators.

The cover can be attached to or removed from the backing plate using a ¼ turn lock mechanism and is held in place by the pressure of the specially designed stainless steel spring. This period looking conversion kit for the 1940-1965 thru-the-tank gas valve helps to resolve this issue quickly and easily. Those who are only familiar with slide carburetors such as Mikuni or Dell'Orto will have a new experience with a Linkert on Harley models such as Knucklehead, Panhead, or Flathead: The throttle lever is not pulled, but pushed with a rigid wire. Modern custom throttle grips, on the other hand, work by pulling.
The Bates Throttle Conversion Kit makes it possible to combine pull-type throttle cables with Linkert carburetors. It relocates the pivot point so that the throttle cable is at the optimum angle. The throttle valve then closes automatically by means of a spring.
The kit fits all Linkert M-series carburetors with lever types from 1949–1965 (OEM 27260-49 or WW 65-265). Some adjustment may be necessary for accessory intake manifolds and clamps. Barnett throttle cables are recommended because of their excellent running characteristics.
