Gaskets for Carburetor and Injection

Gaskets for the gas factory

The first carburetors on Harleys - Linkert and Schebler - did not have many more gaskets than a sealing washer under the central nut of the float chamber. And let's be honest, with precise manufacturing you only need those. The throttle valve shaft, jets and nozzle blocks can all be installed with a tight fit, thus saving on gaskets. Back then, one didn't have the quality of today's gaskets and sealing rings.

At the end of the 1950s, carburetors became increasingly complicated assemblies and the number of gaskets and diaphragms in the carburetor increased dramatically with the number of adjusting screws, additional circuits, etc. Due to the complex functions of a carburetor, it is best to replace not just one gasket, but the entire set. Gasket sets from James do a really good job here.

By the way: with modern injection systems, technology has returned to the virtual absence of gaskets. Apart from a few flange-mounted sensors, you can only replace the entire module.
