Gaskets for Clutch
Seals for the clutch
There isn’t really a seal on Harley clutches - except on one model: the dry clutch of the 1952-1970 K models and Sportster had a cover to keep the primary oil out. The cover is sealed by a paper gasket. For two years 1952-1953, the actual clutch basket was also sealed against its bearing support. But this seal turned out to be unnecessary. If anything, the oil penetrated the inside of the clutch via the needle bearing - which is why the Sportster models also have a shaft seal ring at this place.
Seals for clutch pressure rods and release mechanism
These are the actual sealing points when it comes to clutches. That's why we list them here, even if they are sometimes not installed directly in or on the clutch. Over the long history of Harley-Davidson, a wide variety of pressure rod seals have been installed: Shaft seals, cork rings, rubber rings. The easiest way to find the right seal is to search by model and year of manufacture. If you have a parts manual, you can of course simply type the original part number into our search function and you will be beamed to the correct part in the store.
