Special Tools for Clutch Jobs

Once the clutch springs are removed it usually takes long sockets to access the clucth hub nut for removal. At least on older models this way you save the time you'd spent removing the thrust rod.

If the clutch hub has a conical seat, you will have to use a clutch puller to get it off the mainshaft. Only from the 90es on the Big Twin clutch hubs are splined for easy removal.

You will want to use a locking tool to prevent the hub from spinning while you torque down the hub nut. There's a tool of its own for each clutch type on Harleys.

Weak clutch springs ar detected by a sping testing device.

And the restoration man may want to have a set of riveting tools for the clutch disc linings.
