Neutral Switches
Neutral switch? Do I really need it?
I can tell if my transmission is in neutral by the position of the shift lever! Yes, says the notorious hand shift rider
and nods in agreement. But those who sort the gears of their Harleys with swift kicks of the toe and spirited kicks on the gearshift rocker have always been grateful for this little light near the speedometer that tells them when they can calmly take their hand off the clutch lever without stalling the bike.
The neutral switch is the little electric helper that activates power for the indicator light. On our Cannonball StealthStarter Kits, the neutral switch also has the function of preventing the Harley from starting when a gear is engaged. The special design of this starter calls for that. Electric start Servi-Cars were the firs Harleys to have such a feauture.
Finding the correct neutral switch
The easiest way is to know the original spare part number. It helps to find the correct version, which can be looked up in parts catalogs. But even without this number you can reach your goal: compare model assignment and compare our pictures with the removed part.
