Neutral (Idle Gear) Switches
This switch has no internal contacts. The wire harness contact and the activating ball/plunger are connected by a metal spring. The current that comes from the neutral lamp goes straight through contact, spring and ball/plunger. When the gearbox is in neutral, the ball/plunger touches a "nose" on the shifter drum resp. shifter cam, and electric ground is provided by the metal parts in the gearbox.
