Horns

Horns emit warning signals

... or - more neutrally - sound signals. The attention level of other road users is often not as high as it should be. Car drivers aka cagers underestimate the forward momentum and potential of our favorite motorcycles. And before it comes to really dicey situations, the endangered Harley rider better makes use of sound signals.

Horns are mandatory

If you have none or if it does not function properly on your Harley, donéven think about apply for the technical examination with the TÜV or similar institutions. A clear tone, also possible as a chord, with a max loudness of 105 dB at 7.5 m distance from the Harley and at the very best with an approval mark provided, and nothing can go wrong with your technical inspection. Exceptions apply only to older Harleys - of course also other similarly old motorcycles - without "correct" electrics, e.g. 1920ies F-models with magneto ignition.

Mounting the horn

For mounting the horn - if it is not equipped with a spring plate as standard - there are model-specific mounting parts, especially on the models with classic Springer fork or the older suspension forks. On all newer models it is usually a single screw and insulator block.
