Parts Manuals
Parts manuals
With increasing output of motorcycles (annual production in 1910 = 3,198 units, 1912 = 9,571 units), Harley-Davidson also had to take care of the supply of spare parts. In order to avoid dealers and private individuals ordering "that screw at the bottom left of the engine", the factory published illustrated parts manuals in which all individual parts, from the grub screw to the fender trim, were systematically listed. Until around 1940, the illustrations consisted of photos of the parts that were not always to scale. This was followed by careful exploded drawings, which made it much easier to identify the parts and also took into account the functionality of individual parts. Parts manuals help to identify and locate the required parts. The listed part numbers are a unique identification feature and can therefore be found in our store for all parts for which there is one. We present the available parts manuals from 1913 onwards, where not otherwise possible, as reprints. Parts manuals from ancient to LiveWire also offer the interested reader a walk through the model history of Harley-Davidson.
