Mid Controls

Some scene terms are difficult to translate, or only in a very unwieldy way. What is meant here are footrests and controls (shift lever, brake lever) in roughly the same position as on Sportster models, in the center of the motorcycle, so to speak.

With forward controls the rider yields a relaxed seating position for many miles of cruising, more or less like in a comfortable armchair. With Mid controls one achieves a more active, upright seating position with the feet placed more or less below the buttocks. This clearly provides more feel for the front wheel and the feet and legs cannot only provide better support, but can also actively cooperate in cornering or when the amount of potholes in the asphalt increases. For good reason sporty Harleys, like a Sportster, a classic FX or FXR have the footrests midway right from the factory. In Milwaukee, too, they know a thing or two about ergonomics, and for many a Harlista, an appropriate posture means a English style seating position with mid controls and rather flat handlebars.

The range of W&W Cycles

Hammer Sycle, Prism Supply and Wrecking Crew stand for race-like appearance, which is why they also offer nice mid control parts. Reproductions of the good old FX and Sportster footpegs, brake pedals and shifters are also on offer. By the way, all these parts increase cornering clearance on Harleys enormously compared to footboards.
