In general, footboards are preferred where comfort for the driver is important. Instead of the footrest only making contact at a certain point, the foot receives full length support and comfort. The legs are relaxed - and so is the rider. However, the lack of tension and the vibrations of the Harley-Davidson Big Twin are the physiological reason why the feet eventually slip off the running boards despite the rubber pads, despite the rubber insulating elements which were provided from the mid-70s onwards.
Design and mounting of footboards are a bit more complicated than those footrests. That's because Harley-Davidson running boards have always been foldable. If they're going to work perfectly and fold up, the brackets also have to line up perfectly. Over the decades and with different frames, Harley-Davidson has therefore invested a lot of ingenuity and brainpower in various brackets and fasteners. This is also reflected in our program.

Footboards are offered as original reproductions for the Knucklehead, Panhead, Electra Glides and other Touring models and for Heritage Softail. Also on offer are accessoy boards, such as half moon shakers, running boards for the passenger or to replace the driver's pegs on Softails or Sportsters.
