Even the coolest chop will see some high temps every once in a while. For example, a worn out bushing in your engine needs to be replaced. To get it out without damage to the aluminium cases, they need to be heated to just the right temperature. If you just point your blowtorch in a general direction and hope for the best, you risk warping or cracking your cases.
