Magneto »MM74E« by Morris Magneto

Item №
13-240

These genuine Morris classics are for purists and feature a simple built-in auto advance and manual retard to prevent nasty kick-backs. Easy installation without fin grinding or smashing in pushrod covers. An O-ring on the drive shaft tube prevents oil leaks. Choose from a bare, machined finish or with the mag head bead-blasted, which gives the MM74E a period cast aluminum look.

The MM74E is delivered with base studs installed for "out to right side" positioning. Thus, no relay boss modification is required. Forward pointing of the mag head requires the base studs relocated by 90°. You will need Torx tools, a press and mechanical skills for this. If a relay boss is present (engine cases →1964) it has to be removed.

Morris Magnetos

There are few products on the HD aftermarket which became iconic but Morris Magnetos certainly are among them and have been the favoured choice of sporting riders since decades. Magneto ignitions have a long tradition with Milwaukee’s finest on both street and race motorcycles and in their heyday were considered as the performance ignition of choice. Admittedly, today with space age, programmable, digital multi-spark battery ignitions, magnetos appear somewhat outdated but if you are looking for a reliable, powerful and simple ignition system, a magneto is still an option. Besides, it looks as cool as cool can be. Battery ignitions depend on a charging system, battery and coil to create a spark, with wires scattered all over your motorcycle. In contrast, a Morris Magneto’s charge comes directly from a self-contained spinning magnet - straightforward and effective.

The W&W selection includes magnetos for a wide model range. Mag housings and, where applicable, the gear covers are machined from billet aluminum. All kits come complete with necessary hardware and mounting instructions.
