There are many control modules for the electrical system of a Harley-Davidson custom bike. These modules can be operated via pushbuttons on the handlebar and do not require bulky switches. These modules replace relays and centralize electrical functions such as lights, horn, etc., into a single device.

The mo.unit blue from motogadget, however, operates on a completely different level. Not only does it switch all electrical components on and off, it also protects all circuits, eliminating the need for fuses except for a main fuse. It can be operated with pushbutton controls or with conventional, mechanical handlebar switches. The wiring harness is greatly reduced to just the cables running to the loads and very thin wires to the switches/pushbuttons. If you additionally use a mo.button, the handlebar pushbuttons are connected directly to this, and from the mo.button to the mo.unit there is only a single thin wire. Even without the app, the mo.unit blue is already a very comfortable body control unit, comparable in functionality to any CAN system — but without the disadvantages of systems like HD-LAN.

Functions WITHOUT smartphone and mo.ride app

  • Digital pushbutton control, allowing selection between activation via 4 or 5 pushbuttons; turn signals and low beam can also be operated traditionally with switches.
  • Replaces the fuse box. 10 independent circuits are digitally monitored and shut down in case of malfunction.
  • Position-independent alarm system.
  • Flash rate is load-independent (incandescent, LED, halogen—no matter what), with optional automatic shutoff and selectable activation modes (mo.wave mode).
  • Hazard lights.
  • Turn signals optionally configurable as running lights.
  • Parking light and high-beam flasher integrated.
  • Dual headlights up to 120 W possible.
  • Brake light digitally controlled; flashing mode programmable.
  • Deceleration-controlled emergency brake light (automatic hazard warning).
  • Integrated starter relay for starters with solenoid (switching capacity up to 30 A).
  • Intelligent and configurable control/shutoff of loads to maximize starting power from the battery during engine start.
  • Horn.
  • Two freely assignable auxiliary outputs (AUX1 and AUX2).
  • Diagnostic function for checking input/output assignment, circuit switching status, short-circuit detection, etc.
  • Digital calibration and current measurement on the outputs allow detection of defective bulbs.
  • LIN-bus connection available.

In addition to these functions, the mo.unit blue has a Bluetooth LE module and can be connected to the 'mo.ride' app on your smartphone. This allows you to control the entire setup and the alarm system. Fault diagnostics and a secure, encrypted keyless-go function are also possible. When activated, simply approaching with your own smartphone puts the vehicle into start-ready mode, meaning the on-board voltage can be switched on with a press of the start button, and another press starts the engine.

Functions WITH smartphone and mo.ride app

  • Encrypted connection via Bluetooth LE (Low Energy).
  • Keyless-go (vehicle start-ready state triggered by approaching with your own smartphone).
  • Highly sensitive acceleration sensor enables display of your riding activity in mo.ride via an activity factor, number of curves, top speed, etc.
  • Connecting a speed sensor to AUX 2 allows distance-controlled turn signal shutoff, just like on modern Harleys. A sensor is included as standard.
  • Transmission of alarm events (with date, time, vehicle tipped over, etc.) to the app.
  • Adjustment of alarm mode and sensitivity.
  • Monitoring of current battery voltage in the app.
  • Diagnostics of all inputs and outputs; measurement of currents, voltage, device temperature.
  • Bulb failure detection via calibration. In case of a failed turn signal, flash rate doubles, a status message appears in the app, and Rideassist provides an audio alert.
  • Rideassist: optional turn signal sound and real-time fault messages as audio output via helmet headset.
  • Manual switching of outputs via smartphone (except starter).
  • Firmware updates without removal.
  • Configuration of the setup menu.
  • Vehicle management with automatic maintenance reminders, monitoring of tire condition, chain, brake pads, oils, fluids, spark plugs, etc., by matching odometer reading via speedometer signal.
  • Logbook records rides and stores all generated vehicle messages, alarm events, and maintenance tasks.
  • Display of parking location and assistance in finding the vehicle.

Main dimensions and data:
