CruzTOOLS Tirepro Dial Tire Gauge
CruzTOOLS Tirepro Dial Tire Gauge
Check out the tool box of your local mechanic, or in the race pits, and you‘re likely to see dial-type tire gauges because they‘re very accurate and easy to read. The TirePro gauge has a 12“ flexible hose that makes even hard-to-get-to valves an easy endeavor, and a built-in valve lets you „bleed“ down to the desired pressure. Readings are in psi and Kpa (up to 60 psi), and the dial is protected by a rubber boot.

Bahco Infrared Laser Thermometer
Bahco Infrared Laser Thermometer
Even the coolest chop will see some high temps every once in a while. For example, a worn out bushing in your engine needs to be replaced. To get it out without damage to the aluminium cases, they need to be heated to just the right temperature. If you just point your blowtorch in a general direction and hope for the best, you risk warping or cracking your cases. This no-touch infra red thermometer by Bahco is also just the tool to have around when you want to check the engine temperature after a long idle, or you might want to check the temps of your headpipes, analyse your exhaust gas temperatures in relation to the jets in your carb, check oil temperatures. You might even check your body temperature or the temperature of your after work beer.
Fast, precision measurement, easy-to-read LCD display (with light option). For maximum pointing accuracy, switch on the built in laser pointer (make your own holster for wearing it with max style). Measurement range is from -50°C to 550°C or, switched to Fahrenheit, -58°F to 1020°F, accuracy is ±1,5°. For medical purposes a mite on the inaccurate side, for everything happening in and on Milwaukee tractors just what the doctor ordered.
A 9V 6LR61 battery (not included) is needed for operation.

Jims Spring Tester
Jims Spring Tester
Easy to use spring tester, which is designed to measure spring pressure for sorting springs, setting valve height and determining, if a spring is still servicable. May be used in a bench vise, arbor or hydraulic press. Works with cylindric, conical or barrel-type springs with up to 1.6 ” OD (40 mm).
Cylinder and body are manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum and teh steel spring plates and mandrel will provide years of service. Attached to the cylinder is 70 mm Ø precision pressure gauge with bar/psi indication, which is protected with a rubber boot, reducing shock to the gauge during handling and use.

Profi D-Cat Laser Alignment Tool
Profi D-Cat Laser Alignment Tool
After chain adjustment or maintenance work that required loosening or removal of the rear wheel axle it is necessary to realign the drive chain or belt. If you don´t want to rely on inaccurate sight controls you can check chain or belt alignment precisely with state-of-the-art laser technology. Remember: correct alignment noticeably improves dynamics and significantly reduces friction and wear.
A laser tool for occasional use. Applied to the rear sprocket or belt pulley, it generates a laser dot that indicates the actual alignment of the sprocket in relation to the chain directly on the chain links - it can't be faster or more accurate.

Measuring tools

Tools for measuring and controlling are part of the equipment of every advanced Harley-Davidson mechanic. They can be used to determine and check the geometric and physical dimensions of workpieces precisely, quickly and non-destructively. Our range of measuring instruments includes calipers, feeler gauges, thread gauges, lasers for various applications, pressure gauges and spring testers.

With renowned manufacturers such as Mitutoyo, Bahco, Gearwrench, Colony and Jims, our range is equipped with items that impress with their quality, reliability and precision.

Which measuring tool to be used which aim for?

A caliper gauge can be used to precisely determine the lengths, thicknesses, diameters and hole or bore depths of workpieces.

Feeler gauges are used in narrow gaps, for example to set the valve clearance or determine the distance between breaker contacts. The basic setting of mechanical regulators can also be carried out with such thin metal tongues. When working with a gauge blade on electrical contacts, the blade must first be degreased with PanAm Grease Fighter.

To determine the pitches of threads, thread gauges are used. Holding a thread template against the workpiece provides precise information about the thread pitch: template and thread must match.

If you want to replace a bushing or bearing in a housing, the housing usually has to be heated in order to press the bushing or bearing out and in. With aluminum in particular, it is important to keep an eye on the temperature to avoid causing irreparable damage (warpage!). With a laser thermometer, this can be prevented by precisely measuring the temperature of the workpiece.

Small lasers are also used for chain or belt tensioning. They indicate whether the alignment of the chain or belt is correct. This is because there is often no reliance on markings on the left and right of the swing arm - if there are any at all.

A spring tester is used to determine the spring pressure of coil springs such as valve springs or clutch springs. It provides information on whether the spring in question still has the required tension.

Incidentally, workshop manuals provide comparative values for all measured values.
