Engine Cases
Crankcases
Engine cases for classic Harley-Davidson V-Twin engines from Flathead to Evolution, in original replacement quality from Cannonball or as a reinforced version for stroker, big bore etc. from S&S. Plus the little things you can't do without: nut and bolt sets, repair parts, tubes and valves for ventilation, crankshaft bearings and sealing rings.
Tradition continued:
Even the latest generation of air-cooled 45° V engines from Harley-Davidson still have classic, vertically split engine cases in which the crankshaft assembly rotates with large flywheels in an almost round compartment. Large bearings on the left and right absorb the forces generated during the combustion process. Although the bearings are not directly lubricated by the oil pump, they match the resulting forces. Unlike pressure-lubricated plain bearings, they also allow a certain amount of deflection of the crankshaft.
Ventilation of the engine housing is provided by a rotary valve that rotates at the same speed as the crankshaft and precisely controls the ventilation channel each time the pistons descend.
In order to ensure the precise distance between the crank bearings, a sealing compound is still used between the two crankcase halves rather than a gasket.
