Lower End
Lower End: Crankcase, crankshaft, connecting rods
For Harley-Davidson V-engines, lower end means everything that belongs to the crankcase or rotates in it: crankshaft and bearings, gears, oil pump, connecting rods, timing chains, gear case cover.
We offer complete crankshafts from S&S or in parts as shafts and races from Jims and flywheels from Truett & Osborn. Most of our bearings come from Timken. To ensure that everything runs smoothly in the timing case, we offer gears from Jims and S&S. Oil pumps from CHP, S&S and Daytona complete the range of quality parts for the basement of Harley-Davidson engines. When it comes to engine cases, you have the choice between Cannonball as an original replacement for older models such as Knucklehead, Panhead and Sidevalve and S&S for the model years after that or for big bore projects. This saves extensive machining and provides you with a reinforced crankcase to withstand the extra power.
Which crankshaft fits which engine housing?
Can an oil pump from S&S also be mounted to Knucklehead engine cases? And why do I have no oil pressure since I changed the oil pump? Our service crew will try to answer these and other urgent questions.
