Slotted Fillister Head Screws

Fillister slotted screws imperial

The web knows that "fillister" is an old English word for "slot". And indeed, Fillister screws are only available as slotted screws. A Fillister bolt head, which was often used by the factory on older models, is round. In contrast to other round-head bolts, the head is slightly higher in relation to the diameter and is slightly curved. This type of screws gives the restored vintage Harley its unmistakable classic look and finds favor in the eyes of the strict AMCA inspectors. Fillister head screws are available in various finishes such as galvanized, chrome-plated, parkerized, cadmium-plated or stainless steel, but only in sizes up to 1/4" Ø.

Tightening larger screws with a slotted screwdriver makes little sense in terms of torque. Fillister bolts can also be found on the Sportster, Sofatil and Touring models of the 2010s, on the lamp ring of the headlight or auxiliary headlight. Speaking of tightening bolts: of course, you should use a well-fitting blade from the Grace and The Cyclery range.
