Hexagon socket bolts imperial with button head
This is also known as a half-round head. In any case, button head bolts are often used for visual reasons, as the shape is somewhat reminiscent of a classic rivet head. As with countersunk head bolts, the hexagon socket is one size smaller than with standard bolts. Anyone replacing normal hexagon socket bolts with button head bolts should therefore take into account the lower transmitted torque.
We have another tip for chrome and stainless steel fans: we recommend using thread lubricant. Stainless steel bolts are somewhat more brittle than bolts made of regular steel. When tightened dry, tiny particles can break out of the thread tips, just like with chrome-plated bolts. If you want to loosen the bolt again, the particles lock the threads and you possibly have to drill out the bolt at great expense. And we all know that prevention is better than drilling!
