Die Originalvorlagen dieser Reproduktionen der Harley-Davidson Halbmondgrundplatten wurden speziell für klassische Satteltaschen (Saddle Bags) entwickelt. Es handelt sich um den seltenen 1948er Typ mit vier flachen Befestigungsbohrungen, der ausschließlich in diesem Baujahr an Harley-Davidson Modellen verbaut wurde.
Im Gegensatz zu den Custom-Halteplatten bestehen diese Grundplatten, wie beim historischen Original, aus hochwertigem Massivmessing. Die Formgebung sowie alle Abmessungen sind exakt am damaligen Werksstandard orientiert, was diese Platten zur perfekten Wahl für originalgetreue Restaurationen klassischer Harley-Davidson Motorräder macht.
Auch wenn dieser Plattentyp ursprünglich nur im Jahr 1948 verwendet wurde, lassen sich die Halteplatten problemlos an Schutzblechen anderer Modelle (z.B. Baujahre 1934–1957) montieren, sofern diese nicht vorgebohrt sind oder eine individuelle Anpassung erlauben. Damit bieten sie eine stilgerechte Lösung für Vintage Harleys wie Flathead, Panhead oder frühe Hydra-Glide Modelle. Alle relevanten Bohrungsabstände und Montagepunkte sind in der beigefügten technischen Zeichnung detailliert dargestellt.

The mounting holes follow the style introduced in 1949, where the countersinks are oriented outward. This design provides additional space for the mounting kit used since 1949.

Installation is bolt-on, but turn signals have to be relocated. If you prefer to keep the turn signals where they are you will have to drill and tap one 3/8" UNC hole into the fenderstruts to mount the Quicklock system.

According to the manufacturer on the following models it is not required to remove the rear turn signals from their stock position:
1984-1999 FLSTC, FXSTS, FXSTC, FLSTF, 1993-96 FLSTN, 2000-02 FLSTC, 2005-17 FLSTN, 2018→ all,
On all other Softail models for a proper installation the turn signals have to be relocated.
