Firering Gaskets
Thermally high stressed areas of the gasket — like the gap between cylinder barrel and head — are sheathed by a metal reinforcement ring.
Thin Head Gaskets
An easy way to increase compression ratio a tad is to install thinnner head gaskets. A snappier exhaust note and a more efficient combustion can be expected.
Example: using a .030" head gasket in lieu of a .045" will increase compression by approx. 0.25 points. So if your CR with a .045" head gasket is 9.6, the static CR will increase to 9.85 with a .030" head gasket. Valve to piston clearance must be checked where appropriate.
