Author Steve Slocombe is internationally recognized as an expert on vintage and classic Harleys. This book, penned by him, is the first complete documentation of the valve-controlled two-cylinder engines from the three-speed models of 1915 to the Two-Cam racing machines of 1928/29.
The work is divided into three parts: The first part describes the business environment in which co-founder William S. Harley worked as chief engineer. The second part features full-page photographs of restored and unrestored motorcycles from each year. The final part provides a detailed analysis of individual components, including forks, transmissions, tanks, and frames.
The book includes numerous expert contributions from members of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA), which complement the technical and historical presentation.
