On Harley-Davidson Flathead engines, such as the UL and WL models, the engine can overheat under heavy load because the flow rate and pressure of the original oil pump are limited. The CHP high-performance oil pump solves this problem: it retains the classic stock pump design but works internally with modern gerotor technology, significantly improving the efficiency of the lubrication system.
- Typical oil pressure on a hot engine: approx. 30 psi (instead of 5 psi with the stock pump)
- Flow rate: approx. 1 liter in 45 seconds (instead of 7–10 minutes with the original pump)
The result is a cooler, smoother-running engine that is reliably lubricated even with performance upgrades. Installation is simple, identical to the original pump, so no additional modifications are required.
Due to the substantially increased volume on the feed side it is recommended to upgrade the scavenger system with the CHP scavenger pump conversion kit.
