In the 1930s and 1940s, many roads were far from today’s standards, so friction dampers (Ride Control) were part of the standard equipment on many Harley-Davidson models. The adjustable wheel allows the fork damping to be quickly adapted to different road conditions. In general: less damping is needed on smooth roads and at low speeds, more on uneven or rough surfaces.

This faithful reproduction comes fully pre-assembled and ready to install, making it suitable for direct use on historic Harley-Davidson models. Ideal for restorations or replacing worn original dampers.

One of the oldest methods for damping motion is the friction damper. Two discs are pressed against each other under spring pressure; a disc made of a fibrous material placed in between provides sufficient friction to slow down the movement.
