Engines with a leaking intake manifold are hard to kickstart and will never run properly. That’s why you need one of these leak testers in your workshop, which will once and for all take the guess work out of your installation job. Just bolt them to your manifold (use the stock gasket!), close both intake valves, by slowly turning the engine and with an air hose hooked-up to the G 1/4” fitting apply up to 10 psi of pressure. Spray soapy water around the gasket and manifold clamps and in case of appearing bubbles you can clearly spot any air leaks in your intake system.

These are the seals many of you have heard about, which will once and for all cure the notorious intake leaks of old manifolds. They are machined from PEEK (polyetheretherketone), a thermoplastic with a melting point of 650°F (343°C). Compared to brass seals this material has superior creep resistance and seal properties and can sustain large stresses over a long service life without significant extrusion.
