The Cyclery Flat Tip Screwdriver Set

The Cyclery Flat Tip Screwdriver Set

Classic Harleys well into the 1960s feature lots of slotted screws on engine, transmisison, primary etc. which you don‘t want to tighten or loosen with a cheap screwdriver. It will mar the slots in no time and make you look a poor mechanic. This special edition The Cyclery screwdriver set includes the exact size screwdriver for most slotted screws you find on older H-D models. They feature hollow ground tips to perfectly fit the respective slot, avoiding damages and keeping your expensive hardware in good shape. The square shanked blades are hardened to R/C 52-56 and are guaranteed not to twist or chip. The handles are turned from Maine hardwood and protected with a nicely stained finish and a nickel plated steel ferrule. A quality wooden handle is key to a good grip with hands becoming slippery from oil and these screwdrivers provide that great wood handle feel that only gets better with time. Classy tools for classic bikes - an ideal combination....

Greasy Kulture Magazines

Greasy Kulture Magazines

Greasy Kulture started in 1999 as an obsession and a love for the aesthetics of yesteryear, from the early motorcycle clubs that sprang up on America's west coast after WWII to the choppers and crazy customs of the 1960s. And today the publishers’ passion for old motorcycles and a life on two wheels is greater than ever. GKM is an independently published magazine about traditionally-styled old choppers and bobbers and yes, occasionally cars – from around the world: the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and from as far away as Java and Malaysia. It is published six times a year.

Exotic Harley-Davidson VL Gearboxes - Restoring the 1936 4-speed Gearbox and the 1931-1936 Reverse Gearbox

Exotic Harley-Davidson VL Gearboxes - Restoring the 1936 4-speed Gearbox and the 1931-1936 Reverse Gearbox

This book gives an engineering overview of the 1931-1936 reverse and 1936 4-speed transmissions used on the Harley-Davidson VL Big Twin flathead motorcycle. The 1936 gearbox was the first constant mesh 4-speed for a Harley Big Twin, pre dating the similar and long lived Knucklehead box by a few months. Overhaul procedures are then given for the two geearboxes, with complete parts lists and prices from the 1939 parts book and the present day. It is concluded that the maket value of the reverse transmissions does not yet reflect the cost of a good restoration, while the demand for the 4-speed is such that the present day reproduction of spare parts can be justified.
