Taillights

Visibility to the rear

With the Remy generator in 1915 came the first electric taillight for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Just like headlights, taillights have been subject to fashion and design changes. Virtually every generation of Harley-Davidson motorcycles has its characteristic taillight: Model-2, Air-Flo, Beehive, Tombstone ... which are also always the subject of one or another imitation. Which really speaks for their appealing design.

Several functions in one light

What is commonly called a taillight, is actually a triple-function light, because it combines a taillight, a brake light and the illumination of the license plate. Unlike in Europe, brake lights and license plate illumination were mandatory in most states in the USA in the mid-1930s. Supposedly, a certain Albert Farkas, an engineer who immigrated from Hungary, invented the two-filament bulb at about the same time. This then saved a taillight designer a lot of trouble. The tail light got this new bulb and still another white or clear glass and already one was again most-states-legally on the way. To see beautifully e.g. at the Air Flo taillights.

Three into one

The latest "three-in-one" lights integrate tail light, brake light and turn signal in one light. Sophisticated LED technology makes this possible. The license plate must then be illuminated by an extra license plate light, regardless of where it is located. But there is enough choice in our program.
