Foot-operated hydraulic rear brake
When the hydraulic rear brake was introduced with the Duo-Glide in 1958, Harley-Davidson was avantgarde. They had well in mind that the mechanical brake actuation via tie rods in chassis with rear swingarms in heavy bikes was negatively affected by swingarm movement. Bowden cables on the rear brake were no solution either, so Milwaukee soon came up with: rear swing arm + heavy bike = hydraulic (drum) brake. Results were significantly higher stopping power and improved control.
