One or two layers of this ultra-thin sealing tape work wonders:
- on tapered fuel petcock threads
- on the threads of oil line fittings, found especially on older Harley-Davidson motorcycles such as 750s, Knuckleheads, and Panheads.
Advantages of Teflon tape: the connection can be removed without leaving residues using normal tools, the thread doesn’t have to be ultra grease-free, and the seal is immediate. Unlike PTFE sealant, there’s no curing time required.
