A special feature of the clutches used on Harley-Davidson V-twins with 750 cc or Big Twin engines from 1941 onward were the adjustment nuts. With the slot on one end face, they engage with corresponding lugs on the spring adjustment plate. This serves as a locking mechanism on the one hand, and on the other it makes it much easier to count the individual “clicks” during adjustment than 1/4 or 1/2 turns. The nuts have a 24-thread pitch, meaning that one click corresponds to approximately ±0.5 mm. Give it a try!
