In modern telescopic fork designs, the rebound spring is installed beneath the damper piston. It prevents the damper from striking the stanchion tube during rebound. This not only avoids irritating noises, but also controls the movement of the fork tubes—and by installing different or multiple rebound springs, the height of your Harley-Davidson’s front end can be adjusted.
