Oil Lines

From oiltank to engine and back again: oil lines, tubes, clamps and similar

Not that there wasn't any rubber around in the beginning of the 20th century. But those rubbers were not yet reliably resistant to oil and fuels, and it's for that that the Harley singles' and twins' oil lines were bent from steel tubing. As rigid oil lines tend to fatigue from vibrations they were made with 360° loops and wide bends instead of narrow elbows.

The Sportster models were the first ones to use rubber lines. Nowadays rubber lines with and without textile arming or metal braiding together with a wide range of clamps make it easy to connect oil tanks, coolers, filters and pump in variable ways.
