Grip rubbers for drive-by-wire
No, drive-by-wire is not the throttle grip from the early days with the rigid wire. The somewhat casual term means that the commands from the throttle hand are transmitted via electric cables. And not directly to the throttle valve, but to the engine control unit, which then opens the throttle via the servomotor. ... Well, that was a bit simplistic. On the handlebar hardware side, drive-by-wire on Harleys means that the right (handlebar) side is a few millimeters shorter than the left and has a groove milled in it, in which a potentiometer is clamped, whose lead wires run inside the handlebar. The potentiometer has serrations on the outer circumference onto which the throttle grip is positively attached. As in models with throttle cables, the throttle grip is additionally guided in the handlebar armature.
