Tools for Valves, Valve Springs and Guides
Grinding the valve seats, nay, conjoint valve discs and seats requires not only feeling and patience, but also the right grinding paste, preferably lapping paste. Use spring compressors to remove and install the valves. The special C-shape reaches generously around the cylinder head and holds the valve disc in place while the compression screw presses down the valve spring retainer so that the valve keys can be accessed. The spring tester can not only be used to sort out limp valve springs, it can also be used to determine the pressure of the spring at a certain length and to set the valve spring very precisely to a certain pressure by placing shims underneath. If the engine is to be really performing, there is no way to do without such fine tuning.
