Clutch and Brake Controls 1972-1981

Handlebar controls from 1972 - the first with integrated switches.

Looks are not deceiving, the clutch levers are actually the same as those used by Harley-Davidson from 1965-1971. The brake levers, of course, are not. Because with the 1972 model year of the FL(H), Harley-Davidson introduced the hydraulic brake in the front wheel. Sportster and FX models then from 1973. 1972 Sportster and FX still had drum brakes and thus the older fittings.
