Chrome and Metal

Chrome cleaning agent, metal care

Chrome and nickel on metal surfaces are also used for beauty, but above all to protect against rust and oxidation. Chrome and aluminum need care to keep them in perfect condition. And only perfect metal parts can fulfill their function on the motorcycle.

So, how often do you clean metal surfaces?

Ideally regularly, then you won't forget. But at the latest when the surface becomes matt or dull. If metallic surfaces have already started to oxidize, the cleaning effort is considerably greater. Even if stainless steel is generally regarded as rustproof, it is not, purely in terms of its composition. The truly non-corrosive 314 stainless steel would be far too susceptible to breakage for use on the Harley. Stainless steel parts used on motorcycles are still susceptible to rust, they just oxidize much more slowly than the usual structural steel. So, stainless steel also benefits from regular cleaning and polishing.

What do you use to clean metal surfaces?

If you don't want to try home remedies such as baking soda (which also works, but is incredibly messy), use special cleaning products such as chrome polish, wax polish or maintenance oil. Remove stubborn oil or adhesive residues with sealant remover. Finally, protect metallic surfaces with a good wax.
