Transmission Parts

A selection of replacement parts for 4-speed Sportster models from 1952–90. To determine exact application and year of a particular item please use the OEM  Parts Manual.

Complete gear sets that include all gears for a complete rebuild of a 4-speed Sportster transmission. We also offer "close ratio" sets with a special maindrive/drive gear on countershaft pairing. By altering the initial ratio from 17/27 (1:1.588) to 18/26 (1:1.444), the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear move closer towards the 4th, which is the same as stock (1:1).

Nice reproductions of the transmission trap doors for Sportster models from 1957-1983 to replace damaged original parts. It was developed in 1954 by Harley-Davidson to simplify transmission repairs, because the engines of the early K models 1952-1953 had to be split to service the transmission, due to the absence of this trap door.
