To prevent the carburetor throttle from closing too late due to a weak return spring, Harley-Davidson motorcycles also adopted positive control via a second throttle cable —the return cable— during the 1980s.
The OEM # given for comparison purposes includes a rubber grip. The part offered here explicitly does not!

Grip Sets for Models 1974→
Plain, no-frills rubber grips, the original equipment on Harley-Davidson since the early 1960s. The circumferential grooves are not just a design feature. Old-timers use them to wrap one or two turns of safety wire around the rubbers. When properly twisted tight, such a secured grip holds better than any glued one.
