Brake shoe linings of German manufacture which yield an excellent friction coefficient, provided they are installed correctly. Besides, they won’t break during riveting, if using the right tools.
Drum Brake Lining Adjustment
In order for the brake to achieve its full effect, the brake shoes must be adjusted and fitted properly. This does not only refer to adjusting the brake cable. The brake shoes should not be fully loaded immediately but need to be run in. On the first ride with new shoes, it is recommended to lightly apply the brake about 20 times, gradually increasing the braking force on subsequent rides. After running in, the shoes should contact at least two-thirds of the drum surface. If necessary, the ends of the shoes can be chamfered. Unfortunately, this procedure is time-consuming and cannot always be done without removing the wheel.
