These are reprints of the war department technical manuals of 1943 and 1944 that were restricted material and handed out to service men only during that period. The manual comprises two parts: TM 9-879 and TM 9-1879.

Part I (TM 9-879) contains a description of the WLA model Harley-Davidson. In addition it contains technical information required for the identification, operation and maintenance of this motorcycle

Part II (TM 9-1879) contains instructions for inspection and repair of the WLA model, including descriptions of and procedures for the disassembly, inspection and repair of engine, fuel system, ignition system, generating system, transmission, clutch and chassis.
