What do I have to bear in mind for side license plates?

In German-speaking countries, the license plate must be fully legible from behind at an angle of 30° from the left and from the right. The license plate does not have to be vertical; it may be tilted up to 30° to the front and up to 15° to the rear. The bracket must have a brace on the side facing away from the vehicle, not for strength, but to prevent legs, dogs, etc. from getting caught in the bracket. You can smile about it, but that's the way the regulations are. By the way, a strength certificate or special construction is not required anywhere. If the lateral holder does not have an operating permit, it must be registered during the technical inspection.
