These taps in SAE thread sizes feature the very short lead of blind-hole taps, or “bottoming taps”, of only about 1½ threads. The end is ground to an acute angle, which must be taken into account when drilling the pilot hole. The flutes are not spiral, so do not use them with a power driver—only turn them by hand.
