Aluminum pumps for Harley-Davidson Big Twins do circulate a higher volume of oil through the engine, but they are not a suitable alternative for an original restoration of older engines. In addition, the gears of these pumps do not fit into the cast housings of the earlier pumps. Knuckleheads and Panheads can also suffer from over-oiling issues when using modern pumps.
