Generator Oil Deflectors 32E

Oil deflector and spring for 32E-type three-brush generators as fitted by Harley-Davidson to its Twin models from 1932 onward. Behind the bearing, on the armature side of the generator, there is only a felt seal. This prevents dirt from entering the timing gear housing from inside the generator, but it does not stop oil from travelling in the opposite direction. The oil deflector plate is designed to prevent oil from reaching that point in the first place. It is held in position by a coil spring.
