Harley-Davidson switched to disc brakes on their motorcycles from 1972 on, successively. Brake discs are subject to wear and need to be replaced from time to time. You may also want to improve braking of your Harley-Davidson model and switch from solid brake discs to drilled ones or even to stainless steel discs. Drilled discs improve wet performance, stainless steel discs improve over-all performance, but require sintered brake pads.

for Models 1979-1999 Rear
The brake discs for Harley-Davidson were originally mounted using countersunk screws. Since this type of fastening proved problematic in operation, the factory later switched to flat recessed holes. However, with the appropriate mounting screws, both types of brake discs are interchangeable, making maintenance and replacement easier.
