To adjust the rear axle for chain tensioning, these ingenious plates are used. They feature two differently long tabs, each with a notch. The adjusting screw on the frame presses with its tip into the notch. Depending on the mounting position of the plate, it is suitable for a wide range of axle positions and chain lengths. There are two versions with different axle diameters, depending on which Harley-Davidson model from the 1911–1926 period you have.
