Cannonball SSK-S Transmission Base Plates

Bullet-proof version of the stock 1965-1985 transmission mounting plate which is guaranteed not to bend or flex. Precisely machined from high quality Swedish Domex 350 steel, with 2 square front holes to work with carriage bolts (stock equipment 1977→). Unlike original plates it is machined out of one solid piece of steel to provide extra rigidness. The two-window design makes it compatible with pre-1965 transmssions, too. However, you will require a custom primary chain tensioner in these applications. Recommended when using a Cannonball SSK-S electric start system or a high performance engine.

The Cannonball StealthStarter system converts your classic kickstart-only motorcycle to electric start. After installation you just push the button or turn the key to fire up your classic Big Twin.

The Cannonball SSK electric start system bolts between kicker cover and transmission case. The stock kick starter can be retained. This intermediate housing, measuring just 19 mm, will be the only thing visible. Due to the system’s low width the overall appearance of your motorcycle will remain virtually unchanged. Primary drive, primary housing and oil tank will stay untouched.

Installation is fairly easy and straightforward. The kit includes everything needed for the conversion except for the battery, wires and starter button/switch which must be purchased separately. Depending on the configuration some other options are available separately.

Since the kicker cover and with it the clutch release lever move 19 mm to the right the following modifications may be necessary:

A longer clutch release lever may be necessary on some configurations. A longer lever is available separately.
A longer clutch pushrod will be necessary. Depending on the pushrod/throwout bearing used on your bike a special extended throwout bearing is available separately to fit your pushrod.

The stock 2-1 exhaust system will have to be routed slightly outward to compensate for the 19 mm offset of the kicker cover.

If the bike is still equipped with an early stock 6 V electrical system, you will have to convert this to 12 V.
In case your bike uses the older 47698-65 transmission mounting plate with the extension for the primary adjuster screw, the extension needs to be removed or our Cannonball SSK-S transmission mounting plate needs to be used.
