Authentic reproductions of the original WR gas tanks as used on the 1946-1952 production race bikes of the same name. The narrow shape and omission of the speedo assembly achieve that much sought after racy look.
These tanks do not feature provisions for the stock push-pull type fuel valves but one left side 3/8” NPT threaded insert for OEM petcocks thru 1939 or Custom fuel valves.
All gas tanks by W&W Cycles are delivered unpainted and unsealed. Before the paint job and final installation please consider the following:
- We consistently receive tight gas tanks from the manufacturers, both Custom and OEM replacements.
- Problems mostly occur during or after installation. Hence, before a pressure test and before painting - a probationary tensionless installation is highly recommended. Any leverage on the tank mounts spells trouble. Better use our selection of small parts.
- To avoid corrosion always fill your tank to the max during longer downtimes or seal it on the inside.

Wico XV1922 Magneto WR
The year 1903 not only marked the founding of our favourite motorcycle company, it also started off the Witherbee Igniter Company, which later evolved into the WICO Electric Company with the primary mission to build quality ignition systems. In the 1940s WICO produced the "X series" magnetos, which were extremely reliable and very repairable, so it is no wonder that they became highly popular on farm tractors. All John Deere tractors at that time were equipped with WICO magnetos. When Harley-Davidson came out with the special WR racing version of the 45” Flathead in 1941 they first equipped them with Edison-Splitdorf magnetos, but soon after the war switched to WICO XV1922 mags and kept them until the end of WR production in 1952. Especially during long distance races like the Daytona 200 the WICO magnetos proved superior....
Tankdoc Gas Tank Restoration Kits
A complete system by the German company Busch to restore common motorcycle gas tanks. Cleaner, rust remover and sealant - the set contains them all. The high performance components will clean out even bad cases of corrosion and will dependably seal hairline cracks and small holes. Within 8-12 hours the sealant can be applied repeatedly which extends sealing mileage by up to 100%.
KRM Tank Cleaner and Sealer
Formerly Kreem, now KRM: Recommended for older gas tanks which are rusty or dirty on the inside. Tank prep A & B remove corrosion and prepare the surface for the KRM Sealer. The Sealer cures hairline cracks (not holes!) and its tough white skin permanently seals the tank and permanently protects it against rust. One bottle contains enough sealer for tanks up to 13 liters capacity.

Cannonball Tank Cover Strip
This racy strip is just right for the WR and WR-style gas tanks. It will cover the gap between the gas tank halves and all the wires, fuel and oil lines in between. Rear fixture has to be fabricated.
