Old Style External Oil Filters

Reproduction of the original external oil filter that Harley-Davidson offered from 1940 onward for the Big Twins. The filter housing is supported between the rear cylinder head and the oil tank by an angled rod. The inlet is fed directly from the scavenger pump, while the outlet, equipped with a pressure-relief valve, routes the oil through an S-tube to the horseshoe tank.

Whereas the original filter element was made of resin-bonded fibers, this reproduction kit uses a Purolator-type element made of pleated paper. A little modern technology doesn’t hurt when it comes to our favorite Harley.
