The informer replaces the bulbous and difficult to read stock fuel gauge. Its sleek, low profile design incorporates both an LED fuel gauge and an LED battery gauge. Color-coded LEDs make them readable at a glance from the saddle. A daylight sensor automatically adjusts the brightness of the LEDs. they are bright during the day for visibility and dim at night so as not to blind the rider. The fuel gauge has a string of color coded LEDs to indicate fuel level. The Battery Gauge is an array of LEDs that indicate the operating voltage of the bikes electrical system.

If a tank is wide and voluminous, i.e. it will contain a full 5 gls, and if it is also one-piece and actually only needs one gas cap, then one could ... exactly: where you would expect the left-hand gas cap on the Road King and, from 2000, on the Softails, there is a fuel gauge. And while some are still pondering the sense or nonsense of this part, others have already developed a custom replacement with an LED display for the original pointer instrument. Because one thing is clear: if you replace the gas cap on these models, you'll also need a matching fuel gauge to complete the look.
