Hall Sensor Plate
Hall Sensor Plate
This hall sensor plate is a high-quality reproduction of the original OEM component, which is sold by Harley-Davidson at a significantly higher price. It replaces the mechanical breaker in classic ignition systems and serves as the core of a modern, contactless electronic ignition. By precisely triggering the ignition control unit, it ensures accurate and wear-free ignition timing – regardless of engine speed or ambient temperature.
The sensor uses the Hall effect to detect the exact position of the camshaft and sends a signal to the ignition module, which then activates the spark at the correct moment. Breaker and condenser are completely eliminated. While the external appearance remains unchanged, the internal technology is fully modernized.
This sensor plate is suitable for Harley-Davidson Big Twin models from 1980 to 1995 and Sportster models from 1980 to 1997 with stock ignition base. For use on models from 1995 onward, the original connectors must be replaced with Deutsch connectors (WW 14-192).
Note: This plate is not a 1:1 replacement for OEM part 32448-95A with integrated vehicle-down-switch. It can be used, but does not offer the same functionality.

Crank Position Sensors
Crank Position Sensors
Harley-Davidson motorcycles have not used breaker points since the late 1970s. Electronics are more accurate and, ideally, do not wear out at all, or at least not as quickly. Crankshaft position sensors are a central control element in electronic ignition systems and engine management. These sensors essentially take over the role of the breaker cam. They transmit the top dead center (TDC) of the first cylinder and the crankshaft speed to the black box. They are therefore also referred to as TDC sensors or rev sensors.
Twin Cam 1999→ and Sportster 2004→ have crankshaft sensors that allow the ECUs to read the engine speed and TDC position. These varaiable reluctance sensors with two connecting cables respond to the gaps that are milled on the circumference of a crankshaft flywheel.

MAP Sensors
While Evo ignition systems have only two ignition curves and switch between them with a vacuum switch, Harley uses maps and pressure sensors from the Twin Cam models onwards, which give a variable signal according to the pressure in the intake manifold.

Original replacement for electronic ignition systems

Unfortunately, our selection for original electronic ignition systems is limited to hardware: Encoders, sensors, vacuum switches.

The modules are no longer available as spare parts. If you are unlucky enough to have a defective module, you have to look for a used one or have the defective one repaired. Otherwise, the only option is to convert to a custom ignition system.
